The Common Data Set
The Common Data Set is a collaborative effort among university data providers and publishers, since the mid-1990's) to report accurate university information on a wide variety of topics (see below). This information is very useful to students in evaluating options for higher education. All univesities complete the same annual CDS survey using standardized definitions of terms as defined by the U.S. Department of Education. OBIA website has posted all CDS from academic years 1998-1999 to present. Each CDS reports on general university statistics relating to student enrollment and persistence, financial aid, annual student expenses, student life, academic offerings and policies, as well as instructional faculty counts and class sizes.
